Where to grub

We LOVE to eat. Here are a few of our favorite places around town to dine out while you're here!

  • Little Goat
    • This is Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard's diner. They serve breakfast all day! It's a hotspot, so reserve a day or two in advance, or wait it out and try to spot the chef herself whipping up your meal in the kitchen.
  • RPM Steak
    • We love this spot for a fancy celebration meal. The Duke is supposed to be one of the best steaks in America--we agree. Another place you'll probably need to book ahead.
  • Portillo's
    • Try the Chicago dog, Italian beef, and the Combo (but maybe not all at once)! A Chicago classic.
  • Kaiser Tiger
    • This is the place in the West Loop for delicious specialty sausages, great brews on tap, plus Bocce ball in the summer (and curling in the winter) on the patio! 
  • Fifty/50
    • We love this Wicker Park haunt--it's a sports bar with the best wings in town, great music, and mimosa buckets on weekends. (Also the location of our second date!)
  • Green Street Smoked Meats
    • Another one of our favorite West Loop spots. Arrive early (think: when would your grandma eat dinner?) to avoid standing in LONG lines for some of the best BBQ in town. 

where to drink

  • Third Rail
    • Kind of dive-y. A great place to catch a game!
  • Lone Wolf
    • If you like your drinks made by bearded mixologists, this place is for you. They also have Zombie Dust on tap from time to time.
  • Haymarket
    • This West Loop locale has a wide selection of tasty beers brewed onsite. 
  • Twisted Spoke
    • West Town biker-bar that serves interesting Bloody Marys (think: featuring tequila, scotch, gin, etc.) on a sunny rooftop patio in the summer!
  • Division Ale House
    • They pour the SECOND-best Guinness in Chicago, in our humble opinion. They have board games, too.

If the weekend of celebrations and fun has you feeling like hibernating in your hotel room, pull up GrubHub and order in from one of our favorite places.

  • Tortorice's
    • Skip the deep dish and try the thin crust from our current-favorite pizza place.
  • Polk Street Pub
    • Superb bar food that's clutch in a hangover situation. Don't miss the Philly Cheesesteak egg rolls!
  • Gaudi Cafe
    • Best brunch delivery in the City! (We know what you're thinking, but, hey-- we get lazy sometimes!)
