Surprise!

We had planned all along to a. have a small ceremony and b. surprise our guests.

Shortly after the engagement we thought, "why not get married next year on Doug's 35th birthday?"

So, we did!

We asked Doug's friend Greg to officiate, all the while telling our families and friends we would be married at City Hall on September 17th, 2016.

After a year of keeping our secret, we had Greg hand out cards to our 20 guests to reveal the surprise before we arrived. We peeked in through a cracked door to watch their stunned reactions, walked in, and got married right then and there at our dinner at Roots Pizza (which is next door to the apartment where Megan lived when our relationship started).

We like to think we totally nailed it!

Big ups to our awesome vendors, who made sure the day went off without a hitch! (Well, we suppose there WAS a hitch. You get the idea.)
